A few years ago, Pico Iyer wrote, in the afterword to our joint Cuba book, “Violet Isle,” that our work sometimes rhymes. Alex and I love that notion. At times, I can pinpoint these subtle echoes or slant rhymes—such as a shared palette or an affinity for surreal or surprising moments. Other times, why two of our photographs work together remains somewhat mysterious.”—Rebecca Norris Webb from “Slant Rhymes: Teju Cole and the Webb in conversation about “Memory City” and “On Street Photography and the Poetic Image”

LAST PHOTO PROJECT WORKSHOP: Oct. 2014

August 4, 2014

After five years, we’ve decided that this will be the last week-long Photo Project Workshop we’ll be offering in NYC: Sunday Oct. 26-Sat. Nov. 1, 2014

This intimate workshop is for photographers currently working on a long-term photographic project they are passionate about. It will include daily group edits focusing on editing and sequencing intuitively, one-on-one and group text editing sessions, one-on-one sessions with a book designer (culminating in a book cover for each project), and lectures with photo book publishers and other experts in the field.

The main emphasis in this workshop is on focusing and shaping a project into a coherent whole. For some participants, this may result in a layout of a photographic exhibition and perhaps a catalogue; for others, it may result in a book dummy to be shown to potential photo book publishers (so far, four of these dummies have found publishers); for others, the project workshop may result in an edit for a future self-published online book or perhaps mockup for future handmade artist’s book.
